Where can I find ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) data, news and ratings?

ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) news and ratings are available in the following databases: 

  • WRDS (Wharton Research Data Services): Compustat hasTrucost and S&P Global ESG data. The following WRDS modules have some ESG data but are not as up to date:  MSCI, SustainAnalytics. and ISS modules. (See listing for ESG data on the WRDS guide.) All Berkeley students, staff, and faculty are eligible to request an academic WRDS account using a @berkeley.edu email address. Go to https://wrds-www.wharton.upenn.edu/register/ - you may be asked to describe your research need prior to approval.
  • World Bank ESG data
  • Nexis Uni: Single company lookups. Go to Advanced Search--> Company & Financial-->Company Profiles. Search for Company Name AND Publications "CSRHub ESG Ratings"
  • Bloomberg:  Courtesy of Haas School of Business, access is for graduate level business students/faculty. Access is not guaranteed for other students but can be requested from Haas. Bloomberg's proprietary ESG ratings.
  • Factset: ESG data must be reviewed company by company. Current Berkeley students only, account must be created each year at https://support.factset.com/academic/#/
  • Factiva: International business news articles. Click the "Factiva Expert Search", then open the "ESG/Investment Stewardship" link to see all options. Access limited to 49 simultaneous users.
