Unfortunately, “over the top” or “direct to consumer” streaming platforms, such as Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime and others, are intended to be used by individual subscribers and include terms of use that prohibit educational screenings. A very limited number of Netflix titles include Educational Screening Permissions, which need to be verified on a title by title basis. While one option can be to assign content to students to view outside of class, this can pose a significant equity barrier for students who cannot afford individual accounts or may be studying outside the U.S. We encourage you to contact avmccirc@library.berkeley.edu to explore alternate media titles and access options.
